Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Becomes Exclusive Distributor of Big Ideas Math

Boston, Massachusetts, October 21st, 2010 -- Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced an agreement with Big Ideas Learning, giving HMH exclusive rights to distribute the renowned, researched-based middle-school mathematics program.

Co-authored by Ron Larson and Laurie Boswell, Big Ideas Math has been designed and exclusively written to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) new focal points and Common Core State Standards. The program emphasizes a deeper understanding of the most relevant topics, resulting in a more focused curriculum.

"This material is challenging, relevant, and most of all mathematically sound," said Mark Bowser, math teacher at Roseville Area Middle School in Roseville, MN. "My students were constantly engaged in the material. The website support is second to none. The tutorials and access were helpful both at school and at home."

Big Ideas Math utilizes a balanced approach to instruction, employing discovery, inquiry and inductive reasoning together with fully stepped-out, explicit instruction.
