Big Ideas Math: A Common Core Curriculum Wins 2012 Texty Award
By: Big Ideas Learning
Erie, Pennsylvania - March 16, 2012 - The Big Ideas Math series has been named the recipient of the Texty award in the K-12 mathematics category by the Text and Academic Authors Association for the second time in three years. The Textbook Excellence Award (Texty) was created in 1992 to recognize excellence in newly copyrighted textbooks.
In 2010, Big Ideas Learning won the award for its Focal Points Curriculum, which was designed around the "Big Ideas" of mathematics as outlined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).
The 2012 Texty was awarded to Big Ideas Math: A Common Core Curriculum. The new curriculum was written to align with the Common Core State Standards and uses the Standards for Mathematical Practice as its foundation. The narrower and deeper curriculum is presented through a balanced approach to instruction.
With the recent release of an accelerated pathway for the common core, Big Ideas Math is now the only program to offer a complete middle school solution to the common core standards for mathematics.
