Questioning in the Math Classroom

Big Ideas Learning can help you develop sharper minds through questioning. Our workshop, Questioning in the Mathematics Classroom, provides a set of intellectual tools that engage students in the mathematics classroom. At the same time, their level of critical thinking is raised. We facilitate through a discussion format that sharpens questions and tightens answers. By using the power of sustained, precise questioning, teachers provide an environment in which students will deepen their thinking.

Taught in a single day, the workshop includes exercises and examples from the classroom so that skills learned in the workshop can be applied the very next day. We explain and discuss strategies of effective questioning and demonstrate their use. Teachers will leave with the tools they need to engage their students in focused and meaningful dialog.
